I lived in Midtown Memphis back in the late '70's, and it wasn't that bad
back then. Overton Square was about four blocks from my apartment on Union
Avenue and I used to walk down there to the bars all the time. Friday's,
Soloman Alfred's, and an old theater that had been converted into a night
club (can't remember the name) were the hot spots in those days.
