Hey guys, in these long threads may I suggest that you either top post short
answers like this or clip the long irrelevant part? Otherwise we have to
scan down through this whole long thing to find out that it's a one line
personal post.
Damn, holding the *page down* key down must be a bitch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Damn, that must take for EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did I just bottom post?
It's not at the bottom of the page.
Is this a middle, or upper middle posted comment?
Maybe, I should have placed this at the very top of the page?
Or maybe, the very bottom of the page?
Screw it. You figure it out.
<after thought>
Why do sig files appear at the bottom of the quoted page, and not the top?
My mail reader software was designed to type your reply above where the sig file appears at the
bottom of the page.
Does that mean your mail reader places your sig files at the top of the page for your top posting?
Do I have to update my mail reader to work like yours?
What's up with this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It got to be yet ANOTHER musician thing from the NEW generation.

You bet it is. I've had it with the current generation of musicians.
They are all acting like rock stars in the life style before they have
arrived.
They walk and talk on their cell phones as if the super stars of the
rock music world are on the
other end of the phone on the next ring tone.
Hello Dave (not his real name), this is your mother.
Remember me?
Did you get that label deal yet?
I'm working on it mom.
You've been saying that for years.
How's that 5,000 dollar bass working out?
It's great mom.
How's that new amp working out?
It's terrific mom.
Well, don't forget we loaned ya the money for that stuff, and we've not
heard from you in months.
How's it going?
Well, I've been really busy trying to get something together. I just
hooked up with a bunch of
guys, and we are trying to get it together to jam. Then, we can see if
we can work things out and
put a band together.
That looks promising. What happens if things work out Dave?
Well mom, then we have to compose our original songs for the band.
Then we have to book showcase
gigs at some clubs to see how that works.
Well Dave, that looks like we can see some money from you to pay off
the loan we gave ya for that
bass and amplifier system. Right?
Well, not quite mom. Those showcase gigs are not paid gigs.
Think of them as a free try out for the band at the club to see if the
owner will hire the band for
a steady paid gig.
What are the chances of that happening?
Not very good mom. Cover bands get more paid gigs than original bands.
Why don't you go where the money is?
Well mom, to only way to get the money is through a record deal with
original songs. Record labels
have no use for cover bands.
Oh????
Yeah mom. The Rolling Stones would have never had the chance to be the
Rolling Stones if all they
played were other peoples music.
Oh, I understand now.
So, how do you get this label deal?
Well, we have to record all our original songs on demo CD's, and send
them to the record labels.
Sounds expensive going to the recording studio and all to make those
demo CD's.
Well mom, one of the guys has a computer with Pro Tools in it, and we
can record everything over his
place.
That sounds terrific Dave.
Hey mom, I got another call coming in, I have to go now.
OK Dave, call me soon. Love ya.

Hello.
Is this Dave?
Yes, it is.
Dave this is Rich K, and I got your phone number from Jack at the
Quickie Fly By Night Wanna Be Rock
Star Club.
Jack said you are a really good bass player and you were looking to get
in on something with record
potential.
Yes, I am.
Well, there is an opening of a bass player on a project already in
progress. Two labels liked our
demo, and want more songs from us. We need a studio session cat to lay
down the tracks, and if
things work out, you are in the band.
BTW, the session is a PAID gig with expenses covered too.
You interested?
Sure Rich.
OK, I'll send you pre production mp3's of the songs with the charts for
the session.
If you have any questions on the songs, or anything, give me a call.
Let me know when you have the parts down. Then I'll get the rehearsal &
recording studio times and
dates booked, and we'll make a record.
The rehearsal studio will be available the end of next month. So there
is more than enough time to
prepare.
Give me a call as soon as you hear the mp3's.
Sure will Rich. Thanks for calling.

Hello.
Rich, this is Dave.
I'm sorry for the delay getting back to you. I just listened to the
mp3's and they are great
songs. I should have no problem with them. Two days is all I need to
get them down. Let me know
when you have the rehearsal booked.
Sure thing.
Cool.

What's Up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
<CLICK>
Well, guess what happened.
I had to cancel out, and find another bass player.
And, as before, the same with him too.
Then, the drummer decides he can't continue because of an imagined
conflict with a new club band he
got into.
I don't get it. It's a PAID gig for both rehearsal and studio time,
with expenses.
Not to mention, if the label deal goes down, your place in the band.
While this is going on, the first bass player is seen at a club playing
for nothing at a jam club.
What's up with that?
Is this typical of the new generation of young musicians today?
Is this just a New Jersey thing?
What's up with this disappearing act?
I'm still looking for a killer *young looking* drummer and bass player
with a shit pile of follow
through.
