were saying, punch in that part, then re-listen you think wow. It was

Nowadays they use mobile phones. It's amazing. Thirty years ago they
didn't.

BTW: We did the punch-in thing on the reel thing too. It was possible
then, just a matter of the soundguy wanting or knowing how to do it.

required perfect timing and since the playback and record heads were
separate, there was a time lag that had to be judged. Usually, you had to
overdub a whole phrase or line, and sometimes even a whole verse if it was a
busy one, even if only one note was bad.
