The string set you need is: Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flat -- JF 344
These strings are about the lowest tension of any. Pyramids tend to be quite
high tension and can lead to neck problems on some (especially earlier)
Rickenbackers.
I have the JF 344s on my C64 and they sound terrific. They are NOT however
totally dead and "thumpy". The sound is rich and mellow with maybe just a
bit more sustain than I get with my double bass.
If you really want a super dead sound, you will need to adjust the bridge
dampers on the Rick.
Hope this helps a little.

Hi everyone,
I've decided that the Rotosound flats on my 4003 have to go! I'm after
that 'dead' 'thump' sound (think Macca or disco BeeGees) and the
rotosound flats are just too ringy.
After trawling the interweb for a while it seems the sound I'm after
is bet supplied by using either Pyramids, Thomastik or Labella.
Pyramids seem not only horribly expensive, but impossible to get (in
the UK), so I'm thinking of Thomastik/Labella.
My querie is, are Thomastik "Infield" flatwound the same as the "Jazz
Flatwound"?
Also, someone (very well thought of) suggested D'addario Chromes,
anyone's input or advice would be greatly appreciated regarding tone/
tension etc.
Cheers all

Thanks Richard,
that ref number sorts out the confusion. They still seem tricky to
locate though. Do you have any experience with Labella or the
D'addarios?
