Arm problem

Well folks...
This could be the end of a beautiful friendship between
me and my bass(es)
After 4 years of not being listened to by the 'Specialists',
a bunch of scans, X-rays and injections all in the wrong place
we finally have an accurate diagnosis of the arm problem that
has been driving me nuts...that's the good news.
Bad news is it's a tumour...benign but eating into the bone.
I'm gonna lose about 4" of bone from the radius r. arm and
get either a metal plate or a bone graft.
They warn of nerve damage, permanent weakness and possible
hospital acquired infection.
O joy.
It's particularly galling as the trio is booked way ahead now and
I have no idea when or maybe if I'll ever be able to play again.
There may be some stuff for sale!!
I hope not as playing is a very important part of my life but
getting rid of the constant pain is now the goal although I've
managed to keep playing all through this problem.
This may well be the end of a long, fun and lucrative affair with
the bass.
<self-pitying rant off>
