Re: Pre-Amp Signal Strength, Differences Between Amp Rigs.............

<There isn't all that much audible difference between 700 watts and
1200
<watts. A small difference in efficiency between the speaker cabinets
could
<easily cause the 1200 w amp to not be as loud as the 700 w amp, if
the 1200
<w amp was driving the lower efficiency speaker cabs

This makes perfect sense to me, for sure. It is true, the Behringer
cabs are not as efficient as the G-K cabs.

My thinking was pretty linear, regarding the expected volume level
given a certain increase in wattage output.

Regarding the amp/pre-amp specs and math posted above, I gotta say,
despite the fact that I don't have a v.u. meter, and I don't
understand all the voltage and ohm notations, I'm here to tell ya the
G-K head's pre-amp section puts out a much, much hotter signal than
the Bass V-Amp Pro. There's no longer any doubt in my feeble mind
about this; last night after work I patched the V-Amp Pro's signal
into the G-K head's effects loop, and fed the GK's pre-amp signal to
the EP2500.

The difference in volume level was so, so obvious; the rig is freakin
killer louder using the G-K's pre-amp than when using the Bass V-Amp
Pro's pre-amp section.

I sure do appreciate the data and opinions you guys posted, they were
a very helpful guide in figuring this thing out.

Thanks, guys!

Mark
