It seemed like, even though I had power to spare, this Behringer 1,200
watt rig was not as powerful or loud as the G-K rig, at 700 watts,
both sets of cabinets being 410 cabs.

Your perception, of course, is subjective. Were you expecting much of a
difference? If you had one 700W rig going and added an identical rig right
next to it running at the exact same level, you'd get a 6dB increase in
volume. By most standards a 6dB increase falls under the, "Yeh, that's a
little louder." To see what I mean, mute and unmute one channel on your
stereo.

In your case you have another rig adding 500W of total power, which when
compared to a 700W system ain't all that much. At full power you probably
wouldn't get a 6dB increase in SPL. Furthermore, the efficiency of the
cabinets could easily vary by 6dB or more, which could more than negate that
500W increase in power. The GK cabinet has 3dB more sensitity at 1w/m (102
vs 99). Personally, I wouldn't expect to notice much of a difference in
volume between those two rigs when cranked up, though I'd expect the GK cabs
to sound "better". :-)
