Hello Again, All......

Hope you guys had a nice holiday. Took my new Behringer rig to an
outdoor gig yesterday, noticed a real difference in power between it
and my G-K rig.

The G-K rig: 1001RBII head, 700 watts rms, stacked on two G-K 410SBX-
Plus cabinets. Total of 700 watts into 4 Ohms, mono operation.

The Behringer rig: Bass V-Amp Pro racked up with an EP-2500 power
amp, stacked on two BB410 cabinets. This is a stereo power amp but
yesterday I used only on channel of the power amp. This added up to
1,200 watts into 2 Ohms, one channel driven.

It seemed like, even though I had power to spare, this Behringer 1,200
watt rig was not as powerful or loud as the G-K rig, at 700 watts,
both sets of cabinets being 410 cabs.

My impression is that the Bass V-Amp Pro does not put out as strong a
signal as the pre-amp section of the G-K amp. In fact, a few weeks
ago, before having purchased the Bass V-Amp Pro, I had run the pre-
amp signal from the G-K head out to both channels of the EP-2500 power
amp, which powered two 6-Ohm cab stacks. That rig was absolutely
insanely loud, I didn't have the heart to turn it up even halfway.

This comparison of course is like comparing apples to oranges,
nonetheless, the rig I hooked up yesterday still was so much less
powerful than what I had been expecting that I do believe there is a
big output power difference between the G-K's pre-amp section and the
Bass V-Amp Pro.

Any ideas, opinions, youse guys??

Thanks,

Mark

It may also depend on the efficiency of the cabs. I've noticed some
speakers (car audio speakers, in my experience, are an extreme example
of this) tend to compress as they are pushed harder i.e. rate of
volume increase drops off after a certain point. I have to admit the
limited amount of time I played through a Behringer speaker box didn't
knock my socks off.

Have you tried the Behringer amp/preamp into the G-K cabs?
