Hello everyone,
can you recall your first musician pay packet and what you did with
the money? Mine was spent contributing to the hire of a PA system and
lights for a pub show (a must have, according to the promoter way back
then), so at the end of the night I think we ended up with no money -
uhm , thinking about it, it hasn't got much better since...
On the other hand, I really enjoyed playing in a "true" latin band -
the money was great and every time we played, usually to crowds of
around 200+, Latinos (no offence) really knew how to party!!

It was in Erding, Germany, with an all-original hard-core band in 1992 or 3. We got paid 500 deutschmarks as a five-piece. After covering travel expenses (300DEM), I got 40 DEM ... around 30 bucks. Not bad for long-haired college kids.
Day after we played in that club, they literally flattened the joint because it was near airport, and the airport needed some more runways. :) We were so proud that we "destroyed that club".
