Apparently, that's not the case. 'They' have researched and found that
act of concentrating on a conversation is more distracting than holding amy
cell phone to your ear. If I'm driving in heavy traffic, I'll even tell
boy in the back to be quiet so I can stay alert and concentrate.<snip>
Yeah, unfortunately in the US the laws against using them (in the few states
that have them) mostly assume it's the holding them that's the problem.
That's not my experience. I can't count the number of times I've nearly
been run off the road by some oblivious person on a cell, whether they're
holding it or not. And certainly the few times I've tried to use one while
driving, it's been impossible for me to carry on a conversation and
concentrate on driving to the degree I should.
