Test Drives...

I did some test driving yesterday...
I found one of these:
http://fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0261000552
They are Korean made, look very tight, feel nice and sound pretty good too. Hardware is a bit cheap looking. I noticed there was no change in volume when switched from active to passive. They are more yellow than the picture would indicate. At 769 (or less..) they would appear to be a decent bass. Didn't insinuate it's way into my life though. Musicians Fiend, Geetar Center and Sam Ash only offer em up on line.
In the same place I also found:

in what appeared to be Alder with no top laminate. Might have been all maple, but didn't feel heavy enough. Played nice, sounded kind of one dimensional. Anyone else have one of these, and care to comment? Perhaps I need to play with it longer.... Just over a grand used, and very clean. This was the one that didn't speak to me last weekend, and it would seem that the braille conversation wasn't convincing either...
Played both through a GK rb1001 2x10 combo... I wish they had something closer to my rig, but they're receiving their new inventory so the store is a touch empty...
Also played a 4 string 62 Jazz reissue meh.. so... *But* whose brilliant idea was it to put reverse geared tuners on these? :\
