Brush with greatness

2 Saturdays ago I'm navigating my way through the Atlanta airport at
7:00 am with my wife and 2 kids. We get through the security
checkpoint (mercifully they pass you to the front of the line if you
have a child in a stroller) and we head down the long escalator to get
on the train to go to our Concourse. There is a train about every 3
minutes. My wife and son get on the train that is waiting, but me and
my daughter were about 2 seconds too late. So I make a C with my hand
to let the wife know we'll meet her at Concourse C. So me and my
daughter get on the next train, and find a good place to stand when I
see 2 guys with long hair (in their late 40s or early 50s I'm
guessing) get on the train and stand right next to us. There is
another younger guy with them telling them which Concourse they need
to stop at (I'm guessing he was some sort of handler). It takes about
10 seconds before I realize I'm standing next to Jack Blades, bass
player/singer for Night Ranger and Damn Yankees. I had recently seen
a VH1 Classic special with him and Tommy Shaw otherwise I wouldn't
have known who it was. Anyway, he is about to get off the train and
me and my daughter (she's 3) are standing there and I shout out "NIGHT
RANGER!" and hold up the rock-n-roll hand sign (you know, index finger
and pinky up) and he turns around a grins as he gets off the train.
Anyway, I got a little charge out of this. I saw Night Ranger at a
festival here in Atlanta about 7-8 years ago. They were pretty
awesome.
Got any good "brush with greatness" stories?
