If you have time to do a search at groups.google.com you may find that
this amp has issues with the thermal protection circuit....
???? I've been an active contributor for several years and owned a
1001RB
for most of them and I don't recall any mention of thermal protection
issues with the 1001RB on this newsgroup at least. Now, I have
posted and discussed power on transients with the original
1001RB a few times.
You may also have a problem with one of the cabs such that it
is drawing more power than you think and hence overloading the amp.
Barring a defective unit, I agree with ya there. I'd like to see the
impedance vs frequency curves of both of those cabinets and see what
they say down at 31Hz. I'm willing to bet one or both are
significantly below 8ohms there.

The Behringer have significant phase shift/group delay below about
100 Hz. They'll be well *above* 8 ohms. Don't know anything
about the GK 4X10.

The plot thickens....

In that case, I think Rich then has the best bead on what's going on
here. If the amp is being pushed into squaresville by Johnny SPL,
then we're not eactly dealing with rated power RMS with less than blah
% THD at 4ohms. The output transistors would be sourcing a lot more
than rated power, more than the thermal management system can handle,
and voila, thermal shutdown.

More power or (even better) more drivers are the Rx in that case.
But, doesn't cost anything I suppose to swap out and rule out a unit
defectivity issue. I know I didn't keep the first 1001RB I brought
home (though, it was due to this reason)
