Three cancellations. Imagine what other simply human courtesies he
doesn't believe in. Bye bye.
<sarcasm>
He's a musician, man. They don't work like the robots in Corporate
America. I suppose you expect him to set up a video conference at 7:00 AM
so you can conduct a formal interview?
</sarcasm>
Subtracting all the fluff from your paragraph, we're left with just the
basics: Being a musician means you get a free pass to have disgusting
manners.
That's bullshit, and you know it. We've been through this before, haven't
we?
You did catch the sarcasm tags, right? I'm with you on this. I'd be very
likely to blow the guy off after the second cancellation if either excuse
sounded fishy. I know shit happens, but twice in a row? I'd definitely
forget it after the third one. Even if the excuses were legit, you have to
wonder if his life is in order enough to be reliable.
I have to say that while my band has its own issues, flakiness is not one of
them. Nobody has ever missed a scheduled rehearsal. In 2 1/2 years we've
canceled two rehearsals, both with over 24 hours notice. That's not to say
that we rehearse every Saturday, but we typically know a month or more in
advance what days we will rehearse. On the rare occasion someone is running
late, they call. Everybody always shows up to the gigs at least two hours
before showtime. It *can* be done.
It's kind of funny that this came up today. A guy I know said that he set up
auditions for *9* guitarists and not a single one showed, including one guy
who confirmed the day before. Most of them canceled at the last minute.
That's just bullshit.
