American Interstates would be much safer if lane etiquette were taught

Logical conclusion: You had no authority for your statement, and your
statement is untrue.
Point of order: unproven, perhaps, but not proven untrue.
Still, with cars and trucks (lorries) travelling at 150mph, autobahn
accidents, when they happen, are bound to be more violent and gut
wrenching.
The link below is a photo of a horrible autobahn accident in Germany.
Although the picture is quite graphic, it makes you realize what havoc
can be wreaked by suddenly going from 150mph to zero. Even though other
motorists performed mouth-to-mouth on quite a few of the victims, none
apparently survived for long.

The real problem with the Autobahn is that they let Americans drive on
it, and Americans have absolutely no sense of lane etiquette. The
Autobahn laid out so that each lane over is a higher speed and cars in a
given lane are supposed to be travelling at about the same speed,
speeding up or slowing down to match the traffic in the lane they are
moving into. As long as everybody follows lane etiquette, the Autobahn
is relatively safe, even at over 100 mph in the fast lanes.
I lived in europe several times, the last time for about 3 years and in
large degree you are correct. However, the problem is they allow
Americans to drive in europe on US drivers licenses without ever telling
them the differences. Most Americans have no idea about the lane
etiquette in europe. It doesn't work that way here (I'm sorry to say)
and they just assume the system is the same everywhere. The system in
Italy boils down to the fastest car has the right of way. It also means
an overtaking car has the right of way and it is up to the car being
passed to get out of the way no matter what. That is totally foreign to
most Americans. (And many other countries for that matter).
