I have an old Washburn bass that needs a ton of work and I figured while I
had it apart I might as well re-finish it. I have seen a lot of articles on

sure how it would affect the tone if at all on a solid body. Any ideas or
experiences, links?
Hollowbody tops are thin so more easily affected by finishes. My view
and experience is that any reasonable finish isn't going to do
anything noticeable to tone.
And yet, one significant difference between Stradivari and other
instruments made by master luthiers of the same era is said to be
Stradivarius' secret recipe for the finish.
