How do the vents/ports correlate to mic distance? Typically when you mic a

At what height have you put your mic?
If you put your mic at the height of the dust cone , your mic can be
24" to 48" of the port , depending of the design of the box. If so ,
the mic catches 60-95% of the driver sound missing all the "low
frequency coming from the bass reflex".
And also there are "sweet spots" when miking at a certain distance.
Maybe the mic was out phase between the driver and the port?

Close miking to "infinite open baffle" is the only way to really hear
what the driver are made of . ( I think! )
