Yes it is! I've played keyboard professionaly for more than 4 decades. I
think I'm at least as good as any keyboard player I have ever heard at any
level. I've played bass for perhaps 8 months? I can work any night of the
week as a bass player. Work in the keyboard world is nearly non-existent
nowadays.

Seriously?!?!? Wow. That's NOT the case round these parts... In order
of Demand:
Keys
----I'd have to put Keys/Vocals/Rym Guitar first
Drums
Bass
Horns
Vocalists
Mechanic
Driver
Sound Engineer
Roadie
Light Tech
Rehearsal Space
----You must mean *free* rehearsal space. There are several studios
here that rent space at around $20 an hour (3hr minimum). We've found
it's worth roughly $20 a man not to have to bother with amps and
sound, and the drummer just brings his sticks and snare.
Band Van
----We'll be looking at those closed trailers......
(insert 983 more things a band needs)
Guitarist
Rythm Guitarist
----I'd put Lead Vox/Lead Guitar above Vocalist
As you can see, a decent keyboardist is much more in demand. PLUS, you
can do solo gigs almost any day of the week. We even have a MENARDS
with a pianist, for gosh sake!
