Acoustic Image Contra bass amp. 400 watts -- about 20 lbs. I can carry this
one for several blocks without a problem. They are a bit pricey, but WELL
worth it.

I'm looking to get a bass combo amp that is small enough that I can
carry it one handed, for a block or three. At the same time, I need it
to have enough power for a small club w/ a rock band. I have a big
giganto 350 watt amp, but I'd like to leave that at home unless
absolutely necessary. I can actually rehearse with this band with a 35
watt combo (which in theory is 1/2 as loud as the 350 monster), but
it's clipping a bit.
I have tried out a Ampeg Portabass combo, and it seems like a good amp,
and that it would be very easy to carry. I actually like the way it
sounds, and I think it would probably have enough power. Any one here
use one?
Any recomendations on small amps?
In theory, I could go direct, and not use any amp at all. However, for
some very small places I might play - I want the small, very portable
amp.
