Re: Preamp Bass recording vs Mic'd Amp

You should be able to get a clear punchy sound either way, and it's probably
less hassle to do without micing, for most standard sounds. If you own a
mic already you could experiment with recording two tracks and combining
them.

What kind of sound are you getting, and/or can you post some clips
somewhere? That would help.
What bass, preamp, recorder are you using? I'd bet the problem is in the
way you have your levels set up.
To me, recording direct, with just a preamp (when I do it, and I'm a
novice), sounds pretty plain and... dry.

If you're getting an o.k. sound, but it just isn't getting you off, I would
consider borrowing a unit with cabinet emulation, to toy with. Try
recording with that perhaps.

Hi Group!! Which way is better to record Bass track? I currently have a
digi-recorder and can't seem to get some puncy clear bass track from my
Bass preamp..maybe it's my preamp? or is Miking an Amp better? thanks!!
