For those of us with more ordinary hands...
I usually play false harmonics using my right hand thumb to stop the
harmonic and my middle finger to pluck the note. This has the advantage
that left hand technique doesn't change, and more harmonics are possible
in any given left hand position. It also has the disadvantage that I
probably can't strike the strings quite so hard, and there are fewer
positional clues over there by the pickups.
I always thought this was the way Jaco did them, but of course we now
