That's how we do our shows. Granted we're not 70, playing blues,
playing 2+ hour sets, or making money, but we have at most 5 seconds
between songs. We also make a medley of sorts by mashing three or four
songs in a row all into one piece. The finale of the first song flows
right into the intro of the second, etc.
We decided to do this after watching some painfully boring local bands
and decided we needed to pack as much entertainment value into every
second that we're on the stage. It's hard to believe that this is such
a wacky concept.

The second least entertaining thing is hearing some no-name band that
nobody has ever heard of introduce some craptacular cover tune that a)
we all know, or b) we've never heard of, and acting like it's VH1
Storytellers with a full 10 minute introduction. What is this? A
public audition for a voice-over guy? Shut up and play the song.
The opposite (which is a pleasure): There's an old blues guy here (Rochester
NY) named Joe Beard. I'm guessing he's about 70. Saw him about a month ago.
His first set was two hours and fifteen minutes long. There was no more than
2-4 seconds between songs. No patter, just music. Talked to him during the
break, and mentioned the long set. He said "It's my job. I'm gettin' paid to
play, man, not talk, or stand at the bar shakin' hands. I'd play all night
with no break, but these young guys {points to his band} seem to need a
little rest." 10 minutes later, he was back on the stage again.
He packs the place all night, right up to closing time, and most of the
time, you can't find an empty spot on the dance floor.
