I tried a set on my Martin ABG, and I liked the sound. However, the
lower tension made it hard to get the neck to straighten up. I backed
off the truss about three quarters of a turn and decided that since that
didn't get rid of the buzzes that I didn't like the sound that much
better. I took them off and saved them, but put tape wounds on which
serves me well.
A friend of mine has a Godin and he was talking about putting the
AcoustiCores on it, but when I was with him a while back, I forgot to
ask if he'd tried them.

Oh, I forgot to say, the sound was mellow, rather fat and full until I'd
drive too hard and they'd start to slap the frets.

Thanks, Raf. Sounds like two votes for tapewounds, or maybe I'll try
flats even though the bass has frets.
So far, I'm resonably happy with the A4. The action is pretty low, and
the on-board equalizer gives it quite a bit of versatility.
Unfortunately, even with all the circuitry they left out the "don't
suck" button...
