I would suggest to go for a MarkBass combo.

The watts are much more than you need, but the quality and weight of
combos are really a state of the art in bass amplification.
You can add a second light weight cab as you need it.

I played one of those at a Dallas GC a couple weeks ago: very very nice
sounding and good tone shaping control: IMHO ugly as hell though...

(Excuse me Jim) Sounding like a broken record here again, but I love my
Ampeg Portabass gear.

It's not the cheapest solution out there but fits my needs in the tone
and manuvarability department. Plus, the classy looks make a statement
as well...

Played my little single PB 110H cab with the PB250 head last night at
practice in our main sanctuary and continue to be pleased with the
output.

Last Sunday I used the PB 112H cab with the same PB250 head and had
great tone/volume/presence at our church service setting.

I'm going to hang on to my PB 800 head and PB212H and PB212H cabs
though, for that bigger gig where I'll need the 800W / 2ohm load to
blow the carbon out of the PB-800,...

I had the same Ampeg B115HP a couple years ago, great tone, miss the
15".. That "little" tone monster cost me +$700 for the amp (new at GC,
I had not learned to spell ebay yet...) and another ~$3K for a hernia
operation... (this helps me justify what I have spent on the Portabass
gear...all aquired through Ebay so some savings there....)

I've heard great things from many of you about all of the discussed
rigs: AI, Mesa Walkabout, GK's,...etc...and would like to try some of
these.

I'm not real fond of downfiring cabs though as I like to have my stuff
on a stand (old guys don't like to have to bend over to adjust
things....ha ha!!)

Cheers,
Rob
