Beautifully put and totally accurate. The same thing applies in many walks of life. I was a serious golfer at one point. In the hands of a touring pro, the difference between a walmart club set and the hideously expensive hand made custom set that they normally use is probably less than one stroke per round.

Anyone can break 100 if they are willing to be taught. It takes about a week at one hour a day to do.

I used to work with a couple of guys, Dave and Stash. One day Dave came in beaming and bragging to everyone that he had finally broken 90. Stash said, "Well, maybe we'll have to play a round some day.". Dave said, "Sorry, Stash, but I just don't like to play with people who play worse than I do. It throws me off my game." With that Dave walked away. Stash just shook his head, saying, "But my handicap's 72."

I don't think I understand this. I don't think any association awards a handicap higher than 36.
