I use D'Addario Half Rounds on all my basses except my six string. I use round wounds on it because of the occasional chording I do. I think half rounds offer a nice balance betweeen the thud of flats (which I like) and the brightness of round wounds (which I also like), but it comes down to the kind of music you play and what texture and gauge strings work best for the music and your style of playing.
