Tom Fowler
John Paul Jones
Louis Johnson
Cliff Burton
Rodney "Skeet" Curtis
and Flea...

And I think what Jeffb (or maybe it was Rich saying it) is saying is
that if your name is not on your list, THEN there is "no good reason"
to use active electronics in a bass! I noticed my name is not on that
list so I think I'll be having quite a few active basses for sale
soon! Really hate to see that active Fender V go too!
