I believe part of a matchbook cover is the "traditional" fix!
I had this problem with my Modulus (bought used). It suddenly had all
kinds of buzz that came out of nowhere. Investigation showed it was the
nut. With a nod to "tradition" I folded up a piece of matchbook cover
and shoved it under there to get me by until I could actually fix it.
(Actually that worked pretty well!)
Anyhow, problem was the previous owner had somehow filed the bottom of
the nut at an angle and then just glued the FRONT of the nut to the
neck and had nothing under it. When the glue came loose the thing just
snapped down low on one end. A new nut would have been the proper fix,
but being a cheap-ass I sanded a tapered shim out of fiberglass circuit
board material and superglued the whole thing in place.
It's been just hunky dory ever since.
