actives help

I'm ready to be vilified for my lack of tech knowledge but here goes.

For years I have played Yamaha BBs 4 and five string passive basses thru SWR
gear and have alway had what I and many others thought was a great sound. I
recently got a BB2005 which is active and seem unable to get an even tone
over the strings. The G and D stringare toppy enought to take eyebrows off
and the A E and B cause my chest to collapse. Slight exaggeration maybe but
not far off. Any suggestions for eq ing or other advice greatly appreciated.
Ive go thru SWR SM 400 into SWR 4X10 Cab and the POD XT Pro.
