perhaps i dismiss "root" playing as boring because the players i've
seen
playing just roots _are_ a little boring. yeah, i know it's worship
music,
so it's not supposed to be over the top or anything, but i do like some
variation and something unusual thrown my way - it helps me, as a
musician, to be more spiritually open and nourished if the music that's
being played isn't the lowest common denominator... ie, just chords
and roots. it's nice, but i'm not going to get a high off of it.
yeah, i know most people probably don't care, but that's because
they're
not musicians. screw 'em. if you lead, they'll follow.
