My short scale does this with some strings. The G will be fine. The E
always works for me if you do it as boom suggests, but the wrap could
break it. The E is pretty low tension (especially on a short scale) so
I never had a problem. If it does break them (flatwounds don't like to
bend sharp) you'll have to unwind some of the tape on the strings. A
pain, but do-able.
