That varies an enormous amount depending on the active circuitry
involved and what it is designed to do.
Some active basses have totally conventional pickups and the active
circuitry is designed to give more tonal control.
Other basses have active 'pickups', where the circuit is designed to
increase efficiency of the pickups - these often use weaker magnets
and/or fewer coils.
All possible variations between the two exist. There's no hard and fast
rule.
