Hope it goes well, and that you can get it. You'll love playing URB, and it
will start a whole new saga in your bass playing life.
You DO need the adjustable bridge, and a setup. For strings, I'd start out
with Spirocores, but that's just me, because I'm doing mainly pizz for folk
and jazz stuff. Check out Bob G's page for string reviews and pickups - he
does a nice job.
The only other things you may want to get is a stand, and a bow quiver.
And, BTW the pickup is not optional. You WILL need it if you do gigs,
unless the only gigs you do are playing with one soft guitar player or
something.
Find a local teacher to give you lessons so you can lean the proper
mechanics of playing. It will make it easier on your hands. But it IS
harder to play than electric. After a few weeks, your hands will be able to
hack it. My teacher gave me the best advice I've heard - start playing the
URB with other people as soon as you can. It will help you build
confidence, and comfort with the instrument. I worked it in on a few songs
each time we played, and gradually it got easier and easier. I'm no
virtuoso, but I can get by, and it's fun.
Good Luck with it!!!
