Re: medium-high to high tension flatwounds for 5er

Hi all --

I have a 34" scale Cort Curbow 5 that is a bit flappy on the low-B. I
use TI Jazz flats on my 4 string and have been using the same on teh
5er, but it isn't cuttin' it for me.

any suggestions for higher tension flats for a 5er or a resource where
i can compare string tensions?

thanks

I'm surprised nobody answered that, but having never used TI flats, I've heard enough people talking about those to know they are the lowest tension strings you can have on any bass, any other set of flatwounds will have far more tension then your current strings (as well as a different tone).

The suggestion usually made in your case is to try groundwounds.

If you want to try "real" flatwounds, go for the lightest set you can find, or your fingers will hurt, I bought a medium gauge set and boy, are they stiff...
