The shape of the curves is the same, both fairly flat, with a sudden drop off at the end.

Just out of curiosity, how new/old were the NiCds? They take several heavy
cycles to reach optimum performance, and their quality is all over the
scale.

They were new, but were only 'standard power' ones, I did the test a number of times until the results became repeatable - the first test was REALLY poor :-)

I keep meaning to do tests on more modern batteries, including NiMh and higher capacity NiCd - but never seem to get round to it!.

To give you an idea how long ago it was, the tests were done using a 368SX16 laptop, using a DOS program that I wrote using Turbo Pascal.
