I've dabbled in various styles and listen to a variety of styles but I
personally only feel the need to really concentrate on the style of
music that I happen to write.

I don't feel that you have to MASTER a variety of styles to be a good
guitarists but if someone else enjoys mastering a variety of styles,
good on em.
