Intellectual laziness: taking a single, isolated incident and attempting to draw grand conclusions about how society has gone wrong.

Bull--Hastings didn't do that, anyone who read the article saw the illustrations he used to show this rioting and looting is just an especially high-profile example of an ongoing problem in British society. When the law supports squatters who move into someone's home over the people who worked and saved to buy that home (in Britain squatters can lawfully bar entry to the rightful owners of the property, and squatters who stay long enough acquire legal title to the property!) there is something seriously bent in that culture. Isolated incident my ass.

All this talk about the 2nd amendment has brought out Devin's inner caveman :-)

Hastings established no connection whatsoever between squatters moving into someone's home and rioting. Sorry, the logic amounts to "bad things have been going on, and then another really bad thing happened. Therefore, the first bad thing caused the second bad thing".

And given that an actual causal link between the two bad things has not been established, then yes, the second bad thing is an isolated incident. Jumping up on your soapbox and proclaiming otherwise doesn't prove a thing.

Now if it turns out that a large percentage of the people arrested in the rioting are actually the squatters that you mention, you might be onto something. Do you know something I don't?
