Like the man said, nobody every went bankrupt underestimating the intelligence of the American people.

Beck, Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity and so on--they're all doing well, people buy their books and listen to or watch their shows, and one of the two political parties with a chance of governing pays serious attention to these mutts. Beck doesn't have to be a genius because his audience is happy to believe a cunning idiot, they're prepared to swallow almost anything he says (although apparently his religious stuff didn't go down too well, presumably because many Christians regard Beck's church as a successful cult rather than a legitimate Christian church). Anyone dumb enough to be a Birther to begin with doesn't require a lot of brains in his spokesman/leader.
