Perhaps not quite yet. Something I predicted over a year ago with the
Obama 'Europeanization'.

So predictable . . so predictable . .

What they really need is a sales tax on all Internet purchases if the
merchandise is being delivered to an address in the USA.

Think of all the revenue the govt can collect just from ebay and
amazon alone, this will be plenty to cover every state's budget
shortfall due to underfunded government worker pensions, and give them
plenty of padding on future govt worker pensions. It is up to the
private sector to support those pensions, if they dont do it, who
will? The govt only has one place to get income tax revenue, and that
is from non-govt workers. At least an Internet sales tax would
recover revenue from all people who spend money on Internet purchases.

Why should Internet purchases be tax free, makes no sense?

of course, Gov't workers do pay income-taxes....

Here's the way sales tax works at the moment. If you have an internet
store, and you do your shipping from, say the state of Vermont, then you
are obligated by law to collect sales tax on all sales for products you
ship to any address within the state of Vermont. For out of state
orders, no sales tax.

Some businesses are so large, they have a physical presence in every
state. If you order online from The Apple Store and live in the USA,
you will always be charged sales tax, no matter which of the 50 states
you live in, because they have retail stores in every state.

Now, if I live in Vermont, but drive into New Hampshire to buy something
at a store, I will be charged sales tax because I am taking possession
of my purchase within the state of New Hampshire. But if I place a
phone or mail order to that Vermont store from New Hampshire, to be
shipped to my home in New Hampshire, I won't be charged sales tax.

My business collects and pays in sales tax for all orders shipped within
the state of Nevada.
