These things come loaded with Groove Tubes...but of course, unless you
can identify tube brands just by looking at them, you really don't know
what you've got. (I'm not that good at ID'ing tubes--yet.)
I loved the tone of mine, right out of the box. But....being the
experimenter I am, I can't help but wonder what a different tube set
might sound like.
Any Rebel 20 owners try swapping tubes? If so, what did you try....and
what did you think of the result?
I'm considering trying some Tung-Sol 12AX7's first...
Comments are appreciated!

I have a Rebel 20 and I love the tone with the stock tubes. They look
like JJ/Tesla tubes in both the preamp and the power amp in mine and
that's usually my first brand choice when I retube. Must be why I like
the tone so much. I have an old set of Mullard EL84 tubes in an amp
project awaiting my bench but I'm leaving the Rebel 20 as is. This is
the best new amplifier I have heard from anyone in years.
Even at the 1 watt setting this thing is loud. I play mine into a pair
of Blackheart 1x12 speakers. I built an outboard attenuator for it to
gte it down to milliwatt levels and it just sings. I need to break
down and by a Mini Mass.
