Looks like a Squier neck to me. The decal could have been
added....looks like there was some sanding done.
Weren't early Squires made in Mexico before production was moved across the
Pacific? I have a MIM P-Bass where some previous owner sanded off the
Squire decal for some reason (the reverse-shadow of the lettering is still
visible), but the quality is standard MIM which is generally pretty good.
I have a Made In Indonesia Squier Strat that plays better than any MIM
or Made In ______ Strat I have ever played - Squier or otherwise. It
plays as well as a good many of the American made Standards I have
played. Strats and Teles are basically kit guitars. I have never
understood why people get so worked up over where they are made.
