I disagree. Too many aspects of American culture involve mass appeal
and planning for the lowest common demoninator (what you would term
'dumbing down' to be comparatively creative and vital. With the
commercialisation of American culture since the 1950s, it is somewhat
stagnant in certain respects.

As for
"division," most of that
can be laid at the door
of the U.S. equivalent
of folks like you, who
find threats to their
whitebread Protestant
"heritage" everywhere
and behave accordingly.

In other words, blame it on 'whitey'. The thing is, I've been to
America a number of times and I used to live there. From what I saw,
many of the non-white people chose the divisions I saw.
