I have a volume pedal that came with a Carter Starter pedal steel. It

it's something else.

Why is this? Is it just drying out? Getting dirty? It is
on the floor all the time. Could I spray it with poly
or something to keep the dirt out? There are no holes in
the case.

Anybody know anything about these?

Get an Ernie Ball vol pedal. They have a sealed pot like a wah pedal
and will last longer. They still get a little noisy due to the wiper
material wearing away and leaving dust rolling around in the case.
Maybe a Morley vol pedal without a pot (optical design) is a more
permanent solution.

I like opto pots for applications like this. I have a Morley wah/volume
combination pedal that uses one.
