6L6's and forgot to switch the bias switch. I only ran the amp a
couple of hours. I was noticing the tone was weak and that's when I
discovered the problem.
But I also noticed that the 6L6 nearest the Rectifier tube was running
totally cold and had a gassy coating at the top. Would the incorrectly
configured bias have caused this? Or perhaps I have a bad power tube
and IT was causing this symptom.
Also, would the misconfigured bias switch cause any longer term damage
to the amp?
The amp seemed to be running fine after I corrected the bias, even
with the one cold tube. I figure this is probably because I ran the
amp at 50 watts which I understand only runs the two inner power tubes.
