I play a gig in a venue that has no grounding.
Is there anything that I can do to counter this and lower the noise
threshold? Is there a danger of harming my amp, playing it such a
place?
More of a danger to *you*... there are usually laws
about such things. Use a socket-checker to determine
if there is really a ground connection missing. The
ground is not usually what causes noise...
Find all the cheeseball dimmers (like the $5 ones
at the hardware store) and turn them off, or full
on... or better yet, destroy them! My regular gig
uses these for the FOH lights... POS, I can't
use single-coil settings without bad buzz.
