Suggests there may be some tracking occurring - any chance there's been
some
condensation?

There hasn't been any condensation since these amps have been with me.
Maybe the owners before me had them in a basement or something.

But that Traynor/Marshall didn't start making noise until recently,
and I've had it for almost a year now. The Champ was making the noise
the day I brought it home.

Here's my thinking: since the noise isn't affected by any volumes or
other controls, the problem should be somewhere later in the circuit,
like the power section......am I way off here?

Also, could it be that I need to put some contact cleaner in the tube
sockets? Or should I be looking for bad plate resistors?

Look for the blinking frickin' neon bulb! Jeez... you have an
outlet strip giving you grief. It might be in a different part
of the house, even. Just look.
