I'd be interested to learn if there is a jurisdiction anywhere in the

is this law supposed to do?

If I had my way, not all felons would be restricted from owning
firearms, voting, etc.. Some of them get the shaft when you
consider the crime.
Sure, some felons are scumbags and don't need to be packing.
Any violent offender should be banned from weapons.
But take some kid that gets busted for a felony amount of weed
or snort when he's 18 years old, but later quits drugs, goes to
med school and becomes a rich doctor who does heart transplants..
I don't think it's fair that a "non-violent" felon should be banned
for life against owning a weapon, voting, etc..
As it is, even when he lives to be 70 years old, owns a 2 mil
home, flies an airplane, probably a civic club leader, etc, yada yada,
but still can't legally defend his family with a pistol because of a
relatively minor screw up when he was a teen..
That @#$% ain't right..

I think non violent felonies should have a shorter time period as far
as that. Say maybe 5-10 years, and then they get their rights back
if they have been good little boys or girls.
Now a violent offense like murder, robbery, assault with a weapon,
etc?
Yank the rights and throw away the key.
