Surely it's only a matter of time before some company persuades it's customers that there are cables optimized for predominently north-south runs and other cables designed for mostly east-west runs. Clearly one wouldn't want to use the wrong cable going in the wrong direction. After all, the planet's magnetic field, and, ummm, the rotation of the Earth, and the Van Allen Belt. And stuff. Naturally those who want the best sound quality in their hi fi setups and "home studios" will want to use cables that not only are optimized for signal travel in one direction but are also in tune with the planet's magnetic fields and so on. One would have to be a fool not to pay extra for that.
My wife and I were discussing when they will tailor wires for a "British" sound or an "American" sound. :-)
