I've got a Boogie F-30, but only play at home and it's really just too much of a good thing. I'm looking for a low powered amp and so far the best options seem to be Epi Valve Jr., Black Heart, and Gibson LP Jr. I'd like something 5 watts or less if possible.

Those of you who have experience with any of these I'd appreciated your observations. Also, anything else you would recommend? Budget is $300-$600. Could go for more for the right amp. Don't want to build and would prefer to buy new.

Thanks.
Look for a used Kalamazoo Model #1 on eBay and buy it.

Thanks for all the responses. You guys have give me much to ponder, which is what I was hoping for. Someone mentioned the Fender Champ 600 reissue. I love the sound of 6V6 tubes, but never really considered this amp because of the 6" speaker. For those of you who are familiar with this amp, how's the bass response from such a small speaker?

When I tried it, I thought it sounded a bit thin and anemic as compared with the Epi VJ combo that I ended up buying.
However, my VJ (stock, later model) is way too loud for breakup at "home volume". It has a nice clean tone, though, but with some grit around the edges.

The Champion 600 sounds much better than the Peavey Royal 8, though, which is also a contender, with gain/master and even headphone out.

For crunch at home volume, I now use an Epi Valve Special, which has gain/master. So far, I'm also keeping the VJ.

The Special has been critized for a not so good speaker. However, the speaker in mine is now starting to break in and it's sounding a bit better. The clean is far from as good as that of the VJ, and it's a bit muddy, but I get a nice bluesy crunch using a Tele with P90s and an LP.
