Hi everybody!
I am the proud owner of a Marshall Artist 4203.
It's been long time since I last played with it.
Saturday I turned it on again and I noticed that treble, bass, mid,
gain and tone potentiometers didn't work.
What can I do?
Thanks,
Max
These amps (head & combo) have two very common modes of failure: One:
it is almost a given that sometime, the power transformer will melt
down, short and require replacement. Two: The Alpha controls lug
rivets will loosen and cause a very bad intermittence situation. This
happens because of the method used to mount the front board. I found a
fix for this that doesn't require a control replacement. Two 1/2: It's
also highly common for the fx return jack to go bat *** from
corrosion on the tip lug.
Your situation, though, could simply involve some know-how, a can of
control cleaner / conditioner and 15 minutes.
